The Indian Reign of Terror
July 19, 1692King Philip's war ended in 1676, but nearly twenty years later we still live in fear. Constant paranoia and superstition plague our minds. Everyday is a reminder of the horrible tragedies of the Indian Wars. King Philip's war is an event that haunts us even today. The Indians have burned down our houses, killed our men, kidnapped our women and children and do not believe the word of God. Many other wars with the Indians have made us lose trust in our surrounding environment.
The Salem Witch trials are upon us, and they again bring the constant reminder that no one is to be trusted. Our neighbors are being accused and put to death on Gallows Hill. No one is safe from these demons who do the Devil's work. God will not save these beings because they speak the Devil's word, telling stories of communicating with the dead and witchcraft.
The Indians are now causing even more trouble with our neighboring communities. King William's War is in full force, killing more people and terrorizing fellow New Englanders. King Philip's War and King William's War aren't the only wars the Indians have started. There have been many others, though none of the same caliber as King Philip's War.
These wars have made us paranoid, and with good reason. Things that cannot be trusted are all around us such as witches and Indians. We can't help but doubt our neighbors and our friends. Because of the Indians, we no longer have peace of mind. It's hard to know who to trust, whether it be the "witches" or the violent Indians.
