SEPTEMBER 27: NORTH SHORE COUNTRY DAY, W 3-1 with one match still unfinished. Leah Sibener came back from being a set and a break down to even the match and take into the third set. But the match had to be stopped because of fading light. Gabbie Clark won easily at 1S, 6-3, 6-1; Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick won at 1D, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0; Liz Parsons and Sheena Anand lost at 2D, 4-6, 3-6; Liz Abello and Margot Turek won at 3D, 6-2, 6-4. SEPTEMBER 26: LATIN, W 3-2. We split the singles and won 2 of the 3 doubles matches. Gabbie Clark won at 1S, 6-0, 6-1. Leah Sibener lost at 2S 3-6, 4-6. Alex Guynn and Rebeccda Resnick won easily at 1D, 6-1, 6-2. Liz Parsons and Sheena Anand lost at 2D, 4-6, 0-6. Our freshman third doubles team again came through in the clutch and won the deciding point with a very close three set victory, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-2. SEPTEMBER 25: ST. IGNATIUS, L 2-3. We won both singles but lost all three doubles. Gabbie Clark won at 1S, 6-0, 6-0; Lea Sibener won at 2S, 6-2, 6-3; Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick lost at 1D in a close match, 6-7, 4-6; Liz Parsons and Sofia Iatarola lost at 2D, 2-6, 2-6; and Margot Turek and Liz Abello lost at 3D, 1-6, 2-6. SEPTEMBER 21: Morgan Park Academy, W 5-0. Gabbie Clark played a good 1S match against a strong player from MPA, Asia Lamar. Gabbie won 6-0, 6-3. Tara Summers won easily at 2S, 6-1, 6-0; Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0; Liz Abello and Margot Turek won at 3D, 6-3, 7-6 (7-0). Maddy LaRue and Caitlin Fin won an exhibition doubles 10-7. The longest and most exciting match was the second doubles battle between MPA's Mariam Kudaini and Nadine Shabeeb and our own Liz Parsons and Sheena Anand. Liz and Sheena won the first set, dropped the second, and were behind 1-4 in the third set before rallying to win in an exciting and nerve-wracking tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-3). SEPTEMBER 20: Sandburg, W 5-2. All matches were straight set wins except for second doubles who won in three sets. Liz Parsons and Sheena Anand won at 2D, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Gabbie Clark won at 1S, 6-4, 6-0; Tara Summers won at 2S, 6-3, 6-2; Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick won at 1D, 6-1, 6-4; Liz Abello and Margot Turek won at 3D, 6-3, 6-4; Caitlin Finn and Maddy LaRue lost at 4D, 7-10; and Faith Dremmer lost at 3S, 8-10. SEPTEMBER 18: Oak Park River Forest, L 2-3. Singles won in straight sets: Gabbie Clark won at first singles, 6-0, 6-3 and Leah Sibener won at second singles, 6-0, 6-2. All three doubles matches went three sets and finished in fading light. We lost all three doubles. Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick lost, 7-5, 3-6, 3-6; Liz Parsons and Sofia Iatarola lost in a tiebreaker in the third set; and freshmen Margot Turek and Liz Abello lost at third doubles, 2-6, 7-5, 2-6. SEPTEMBER 15: Morgan Park High school, W 3-2. We played three singles and two doubles, an unusual lineup for us. Second Doubles, Maddy LaRue & Liz Parsons won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0; First doubles, Alex Guynn & Sofia Iatarola lost, 7-5, 3-6, 2-6; first singles, Lea Sibener, lost 2-6, 2-6. Two freshmen also played singles, and their match victories turned the tide in our favor. Liz Abello played third singles and won easily in straight sets, 6-, 6-3. 2. With the match tied at 2 points apiece, Margot Turek played the third set of her second singles match. Margot wore down her opponent and won, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. SEPTEMBER 14: Mother McAuley, L 1-4. Leah Sibener won at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. Alex Guynn and Sofia Iatarola lost at first doubles, 5-7, 4-6; Liz Parsons and Margot Turek lost at second doubles, 1-6, 1-6; Zoe Stal and Sheena Anand lost at third doubles, 4-6, 4-6. Gabbie Clark's match at one singles against McAuley's Annie McCarthy was the match of the day which, unfortunately was not able to be completed because of injury. McCarthy has won our state sectional tournament the past two years, and she had her hands full playing U-High's freshman, Gabbie Clark. Gabbie won the first set 7-5, but then began experiencing severe leg cramps in both legs. She gamely played , but at 4-5 on her serve in the second set the cramps were too much for Gabbie to overcome and she had to default. it was an unfortunate ending to a terrific match. SEPTEMBER 8: Francis Parker, L, 1-4. Two of the matches went three sets, second singles and second doubles, but we ended up losing both points and the match. Leah Sibener lost a close match to Jana Taylor, 3-6, 6-1, 4-6; Liz Parsons and Sofia Iatarola lost at second doubles, 6-3, 1-6, 5-7. Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick won at first doubles, 6-1, 6-4. Gabbie Clark played Parker's first singles player, Liz Epstein and lost 2-6, 2-6. SEPTEMBER 7: Elgin Academy W 5-0. Everyone won in straight sets. SEPTEMBER 6: Woodlands Academy, L 1-4. Freshman Gabbie Clark won her match at first singles, 6-4, 6-4. Leah Sibener lost at 2-6, 1-6 at second singles; Alex Guynn and Rebecca Resnick lost at first doubles, 3-6, 4-6; Sofia Iatarola and Liz Parsons lost at second doubles, 2-6, 4-6. Third doubles, Zoe Stal and Sheena Anand, lost 0-6, 1-6. AUGUST 31: Timothy Christian, W 5-0. Freshman Gabbie Clark played and won her first match at first singles for U-High, 6-0, 6-3. Leah Sibener won at second singles, 6-1, 6-2; Rebecca Resnick and Alex Guynn (last year's sectional doubles champions) won at first doubles, 6-2, 6-0; Liz Parsons and Sofia Iatarola won at second doubles, 6-1, 6-0; Sheena Anand and Zoe Stal won in three sets at third doubles, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
