CLASS EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES
Materials
Bring your
textbook, your loose-leaf Latin notebook, and a pencil or dark pen to each
class.
Promptness and Attendance
Please arrive on
time and prepared. I mark tardies. Consistent
attendance is expected.
Homework
Expect a small
assignment every day; weekend homework assignments will be longer than work
assigned during the week. Assignments will be posted on your class
website.
Work missed due to absence
You must arrange
to make up homework, quizzes and tests missed during an excused absence,
planned or unplanned. Work must be made up within one week of your return to
school. Work missed due to an unexcused absence cannot be made up.
Comportment
Treat one
another and me with courtesy and respect at all times. Chatting during
class, doing homework from another class, inappropriate language, etc. are
disrespectful. In accordance with school policy, any use of a cell phone
will result in its confiscation.
Grading
Quizzes and
tests: two-thirds of
your grade will be based on tests and quizzes. Tests will count 100
points, and quizzes between 15 to 75 points. Quizzes may be
unannounced. I will notify parents of a test grade below 70% and two
consecutive quiz grades below 70%. Reports, short papers, and special projects
are all worth quiz grades.
Notebooks: your notebooks will be checked
without notice and will be counted as a quiz grade.
One-third of
your grade is based upon homework, participation, attendance, effort, and
comportment.
THE FOLLOWING GRADING SCALE IS USED FOR QUIZZES,
TESTS, AND QUARTER GRADES
